MADISON, W.Va. – The 2015 Cardinal Conference Football Grid-O-Rama presented by Suddenlink will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Scott High School in Madison, West Virginia.
The Cardinal Conference is comprised of eight (8) WVSSAC Class AA high schools located in Boone, Kanawha, Logan, Mingo, Putnam and Wayne counties. Member schools include: Scott, Herbert Hoover, Sissonville, Chapmanville Regional, Mingo Central, Poca, Tolsia and Wayne.
The event features four controlled football scrimmages involving all eight conference teams. Each scrimmage will be timed and limited to two hours on a continuously-running game clock and consist of ten-play drives and down-and-distance plays. The coaches of the opposing teams in each scrimmage will decide the exact format for their respective scrimmage.
Coach Yogi Kinder will take the Miners for their first scrimmage of the practice season to Boone County and take on Sissonville. Kinder hopes to work out some kinks in the offense and see what players might be ready to step into the starting lineup this season.
Mingo Central returns 4-year starting quarterback and all-state candidate Stevie Hammond for his senior season. Kinder has several other starters back from last year’s Class 2A playoff team.
Gates will open at 11:00 am. The first scrimmage begins at 1:15 pm. Admission is $7.00 for students and adults. Admission receipts will be divided among the member schools. Concessions will be available.
