Miners ranked No. 4 in sportswriters poll

CHARLETSON – Mingo Central High School is rated No. 4 in Class AA in the Gazette-Mail football poll released this week. This poll is different than the SSAC poll and isvoted on by statewide sportswriters.

Mingo Central is 5-0 and will host winless Poca Friday night and it will be homecoming for the Miners.

The three teams voted ahead of Mingo Central are Bridgeport, Fairmont Senior and Point Pleasant.

The only other team in the region in the top 10 is Tolsia in Class A. The Rebels are rated No. 10.

The poll for each classification is listed below, with first-place votes in parentheses, total points, record and next opponent. All games are Friday unless noted.
