WAYNE, W.Va. – The Mingo Central Miners remain undefeated after giving Wayne a shutout on Friday. The Miners own the game 34-0 and it was the usual suspects making it happen.

Mingo quarterback Jeremy Dillon threw four passing TD’s and rushed for one. The Miners took advantage of an early BYE after defeating Sissonville and worked on the passing game. It has continually shown through the Miners last two wins. Dillon finished the night going 18 for 37 with 318-yards, four TD’s and one interception.

Cardinal Conference rival Wayne has a slipping program on their hands. The last time the Pioneers were shutout on their own field was in 2002. The Miners had no problem setting the clock back at zero.

On the receiving end of the majority of Dillon’s passes was freshman Phenom, Drew Hatfield who finished the night with 121-yards receiving on nine catches. Tyler Grimmett added two scores on top of his 88-yards receiving as well.

The first quarter was scoreless but the Miners broke the seal in the second. Dillon connected with Grimmett for the first score on a long 42-yard catch and score. Billy Mitchem made his first of four extra points to put the Miners ahead by seven. Hatfield hauled in the second TD of the second quarter from 24-yards out with just over a minute to play.

The Miners entered halftime ahead 14-0 but there was no stopping there. Dillon would begin the scoring in the second half with another touchdown connection to Hatfield for 39-yards. Dillon ran in one from seven yards out in the fourth and connected with Grimmett one more time on a 33-yard passing TD to bring the final score to 34.

The Miners compiled 440-yards of total offense on 15 minutes of possession and 58 plays. Wayne finished with 121-yards of total offense on 60 plays. Joe Hunt led the Miners ground attack with 61-yards on 11 carries, he also caught on pass for 13-yards.

Defensively the Miners were led by Issac fox who finished the night with 6.5 tackles. Robbie Daniel finished with five tackles and a sack for a loss of 6-yards for the Pioneers. Grimmett and Kaleb Lester each had four tackles and Thomas Harmon ended the night with a pick.

The Miners are now 5-0 on the season and move their focus to Chapmanville whom they will host this week.

Score by Quarter:
