LOGAN – The Belfry Pirates ran into a wall against the Logan Wildcats on Wednesday evening as the Pirates lost 10-4.
The Logan Wildcats jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning. Alex Toler made the first score for the Wildcats on a Jared Shawver RBI double to right field. Chase Barnette singled to right field and Will Akers was safe on a Pirate error. Barnette scored on the error and Akers scored on a Tyler Topping sacrifice fly.
The Pirates got one run in the second when Keilan Carr, who was a courtesy runner for Tyler Fields, scored on a Logan Error trying to get Devin Varney out at first base. The Pirates added two more runs in the third inning to tie up the score three runs apiece with the Wildcats. Garret Fannin and Austin Woolum scored for Belfry in the third inning.
Logan Answered with two runs of their own when Toler and Shawver scored on two sacrifice fly’s. Belfry returned in the fourth with a one run inning but Logan scored five runs in the fourth to take a big lead. Colton Cross scored for the Pirates while Mathew Brown, Toler, Shawver,Barnette, and Akers scored for the Wildcats.
Tonight the Pirates begin the Jim Vaughn Invitational that will include games on Friday and Saturday.
