HUNTINGTON — Ryan Taylor snapped back from one of the worst performances of his career with one of his best Saturday for the Marshall Thundering Herd men’s basketball team in an 82-65 victory against Old Dominion in Cam Henderson Center.
Taylor scored 23 and snagged 12 rebounds. Thursday night in a win against Charlotte the 6-foot-5 junior forward had four points and two rebounds.
Marshall is 11-3 in Conference USA and moved within one-half game of league leader UAB, 11-2. UAB plays Sunday at third-place Middle Tennessee, 10-3.
Stevie Browning and James Kelly both scored 18 for the Herd. Jon Elmore scored nine and handed out 10 assists.
Trey Freeman of ODU (15-12, 8-6) scored 20. The senior guard came in with a conference-leading 21.4 average.
The crowd of 8,520 was Marshall’s largest in five seasons and came close to capacity (9,048).
