HUNTINGTON – The Tug Valley Panthers played a great game on Friday night but fell just short of victory on Saturday against Saint Joseph by a final score of 60-53.
Saint Joseph came out firing, in the first period, and created a big lead by outscoring Tug Valley 19-7 at the Big Sandy Arena. The Panthers stayed close the rest of the game but the original lead was too much to overcome.
Saint Joseph held an 11 point lead over the Panthers at halftime with a score of 36-25. The Panthers kept the game close throughout the second period and even outscored Saint Joseph in the fourth 21-15. Jeremy Dillon led the Panthers in scoring with 19 points. Dillon made 57 percent of his shots making 8 of 14 buckets.
Tug Valley only made two 3-pointers during the game and only shot 30 percent all together making 19 of 63 shots.
Saint Joseph was led in scoring by Deandre Murphy who scored 21 points, behind him was Keith Clemson who netted 16 points.
Tug Valley is scheduled to play Wesleyan Christian tonight (Tuesday) at Tug Valley. Tip off is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
