East Ridge 71, Belfry 67, 3OT

GOODY, Ky. – East Ridge defeated Belfry 71-67 in three overtimes in the Pirate’s season opener Tuesday night at the BHS gym.

Matt Miller led the Warriors with 16 points, Michael Conn scored 15, while Trey Little added 10, and Little pulled down 11 boards for ERHS.

Garrett Fannin fired in a game high 25 for the Pirates, while Cole Bentley added 15. Bentley had 10 rebounds for the Pirates.

Belfry was 21-of-71 from the floor for 30 percent, including 8-30 from 3-point range. BHS had 12 turnovers. The Pirates made 17-20 at the foul line for 85 percent.

East Ridge was 22-0f-51 from the field for 43 percent and 3-14 from behind the arc. The Warriors made 24-40 at the charity stripe for 60 percent.

ERHS had 15 turnovers in the game.

Mingo Central 47, Tug Valley 24

RED JACKET – The Mingo Central Lady Miners improved to 2-0 on the season as they downed visiting Tug Valley 47-24 on Tuesday night at the MCHS gym.

Freshman guard Kylee Varney led the scoring with 14 points and also five steals and five assists.

Senior Hannah Church fired in 10 points and hauled in five rebounds. Samantha Hurley chipped in six points and Shylah Goff five points and five boards.

Senior Paige Muncy added four points and led the team with eight rebounds, while Mikashia Rhodes chipped in four points seven rebounds. Reanna accord and Ashley Blackburn both scored two points for interim head coach Jack Stewart.

Madison Ooten 12 led the Lady Panthers with 12 points, while Emily Colegrove added 10 and Shasta Yates one point for Coach Maxine Colegrove.

Sheldon Clark 40, Belfry 38

WARFIELD, Ky. – Sheldon Clark nipped Belfry 40-38 on Tuesday night.

The Lady Cards outscored the Lady Pirates 13-9 in the final quarter to pull out the victory.

Hope Lafferty fired in a game high 26 points for the Lady Cardinals. Maddie Thompson added six, Laken Newsome five and McKenzie Preston three.

For the Lady Pirates of Belfry Lena Hairston led the way with 16 points, while Kailee Rash scored seven and Kylea Stanley added eight.

For SCHS of Coach Tim Rice, Thompson hauled in 14 rebounds. The Lady Cards were 13 of 44 from the field for 30 percent.

For Belfry, coached by Kevin Deskins, Stanley hauled in17 rebounds, while Hairston pulled down 14 boards. The Lady Pirates were 13 of 42 on field goals for 31 percent.

SCHS is now 3 – 1 will host Johnson Central Friday night. Belfry is 0 – 1 and was scheduled to take on Allen Central Wednesday night.
