GOODY, K.y – The Belfry boys’ soccer team added another win to their record Saturday morning as they took on Lincoln County, W.Va. The Pirates won the match by a score of 5-1.
Belfry had already beaten Lincoln County earlier in the season by the same score.
Dylan Brown wasted no time, for the Pirates, when he scored the first goal during the 10th minute from an assist from teammate Matt Lambert. Blake Mendoza quickly scored the next goal during the 12th minute, unassisted, to bring the score to 2-0 in favor of the Pirates.
Christian Long scored the next goal of the match from an assist from Lambert during the 20th minute. Brown added another score from a Mendoza assist, during the 26th minute. Trevor Kohari scored the last goal for the Pirates during the 34th minute, from an assist from Mendoza, to make the score at the end of the first half 5-0.
Parker Lucas scored the lone goal for the Panthers during the 65th minute to make the final score 5-1.
The Pirates attempted 35 shots at the goal and Lincoln County goalie, Hunter Workman had nine saves in the first half and Caleb Rusk had 11 saves in the second half.
The Panthers attempted nine shots on the goal and Belfry’s goalie, Dominic Gentile, had six saves during the match.
Belfry now improves to 9-2 on the season. The Pirates have now won eight matches in a row. The Pirates will face off against Pike County Central on Sept. 22. at the Belfry High School soccer field.
