Enough is enough !

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

I think it is a disgrace that the city is putting burdens on the citizens of Williamson by putting all these high rates on the water and sewer fees. Really, this is about all we are getting now! Williamson is more like an unincorporated place now instead of a city.

The streets are full of holes, ditches are stopped up, and the sidewalks are broken all to pieces. People are allowed to leave garbage cans on the streets all week, and also allows weeds and grass to be cut only to be left to fall and lay on the street. This city has went down like the Titanic since Veolia took over. We didn’t have these problems before.

The City of Williamson used to be maintained pretty well, now about all we get is water and sewer. So it looks like there is no end to the rate hikes. I do want to say that it is not the city workers’ fault. The city work force has been cut so low that they cannot do the work that needs to be done.

There are places in the city where the weeds need to be cut, they spray them with weed killer instead, leaving bare rocks and dirt. That is what you see when you leave.

It doesn’t look like the city can ever recover from the neglect. I know some people will not like what I had to say, but it is the truth.

The next council meeting is scheduled to be held on Thursday, August 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall and the public hearing on the water and sewer rate is on Monday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m.

Concerned Citizen,

Pete Dillon
