The Final Call

One of the most marvelous and sacred experiences of any Church event is the altar call. Mingo County has been fortunate to witness many of them during the revival and watch an estimated 4,000 people receive Jesus. A moment where many can feel the divine call to salvation as the God of heaven knocks at the door of their hearts. No words can describe the presence of the Lord as he is near those making an eternal decision. The weight of glory descends as he draws the lost from darkness and breaks the bonds of sin. A dose of heaven is released when one surrenders his or her heart to Christ and a spiritual breakthrough begins. It is the start of a new journey and a relationship with God.

The redemption experience is recorded in Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Only one thing can keep us out of heaven and that is sin. Unfortunately we have all broke the commandments of God and cannot make it to his kingdom on our own. This is why there is only one name that can bring salvation. Only Jesus has addressed the sin barrier that has separated us from God. The cross is forever the pathway to Heaven, the washing of our sins, and the reconciliation of the prodigal son. Many have told of the heavy burden that is lifted at the altar. It is there that guilt and shame vanishes as our trespasses are erased from the divine books. There is great rejoicing in the presence of angels over one who repents.

Have you felt a spiritual knock at your door lately? God wants you to have a life changing encounter with him. The gift of forgiveness and everlasting life has been purchased for you. It is time to think about where you will go for eternity. Some are saying that this historic awakening is providing the final call before the return of Christ. Whether it is true or not, no one is promised tomorrow and it could be some ones final opportunity. Life is full of surprises and sometimes it ends sooner than expected. Accepting this gift of grace will make one ready for any outcome. Do not ignore the voice of the Lord if he is calling today. It is the most important decision you will make in this lifetime. Time is fleeting and the opportunity is passing. Now is the moment and today is the day of your salvation.
