Bowen promoted to Lt. Colonel

BECKLEY, W.Va. – Jamie Bowen, formerly of Chattaroy, was recently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

LTC Bowen enlisted into active duty in October 1994 and served on active duty until December 2000. Bowen entered the West Virginia National Guard in December 2000 in D Co-1-150th AR BN.

He was commissioned in February 2002 through August 2004. He assumed the duties of A Co-1-150th AR BN executive officer while deployed and served from August 2004 through February 2005 in that position.

Bowen then transferred to HHC 1-150th AR BN and served as the training officer and assistant S3 until May 2006. Bowens’ next assignments included full time administrative officer S1 and commander of B Troop 1/150th ARS from May 2005 until June 2010.

When Bowen returned from the Squadron’s second deployment, LTC Bowen was transferred to the 77th BDE as the S4 from July 2010 through June 2012.

Following his second deployment, Bowen returned to HHT 1/150th to serve as the S3 and administrative officer from July 2012 through September 2013. Bowen was then transferred to the JFHQ-WV as the J35 from October 2013 through December 2014.

LTC Bowen then became the Brigade S3 for the element of the 30th ABCT slated for Kosovo. Bowen served in that role from January 2015 through April 2016 and returned to the WVARNG in May 2016 to his current billet as the G4.

LTC Bowen earned a Bachelor’s of Arts from Chaminade University of Honolulu in Hawaii. He is also a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic Course, Fort Knox, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Ft. Benning, Common Core Intermediate Level Education (Command and General Staff College), Ft. McCoy, and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management.

His award include two Bronze Star Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, two Good Conduct Meals, three Overseas Service Ribbons, the NATO non-article 5 medal for Kosovo deployment, the Iraqi campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Air Crewmember Badge and the Parachutist Badge.

LTC Bowen is the son of Lonnie and Debby Bowen of Chattaroy. He is married and has two children. LTC Bowen and his wife Missy, son Nick and daughter Emily reside in Beckley, W.Va.
