DUNCAN FORK – The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department recently arrested a Delbarton man after he allegedly entered a school bus with children present and threatened the bus driver.
Michael Jay Deskins, 35 from Delbarton, was arrested on misdemeanor charges related to assault on a school employee for an incident that occurred September 22 by Cpl. J. Endicott and Chief Joe Smith with the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department.
Deskins was arrested for the incident Wednesday, October 5 after a warrant for his arrest was executed.
According to a criminal complaint, Deskins unlawfully and intentionally approached the victim, Freddie Dean, while Dean was performing his official duties as a school bus driver for the Mingo County Board of Education.
The complaint states that Deskins boarded the school bus while Dean was loading children and approached the victim in an aggressive manner. Deskins allegedly told Dean that he would “pull him off the bus,” placing Dean in reasonable apprehension of receiving a violent injury at that moment.
The event was captured on the school buses’ closed circuit camera system.
Deskins was arraigned before Mingo County Magistrate Brock Mounts.
