MARROWBONE CREEK – on Tuesday around 3:00 p.m. the Kermit Volunteer Fire Department was called out for a structure fire on the left fork of Marrowbone Creek with occupant entrapment. Upon on arrival to scene members and bystander got male victim out with 50 percent of his body with second degree burns. The patient was air lifted out to Pikeville Medical Center by chopper and then sent to burn unit were he listed in stable condition. KVFD members fought the fire in 90-plus and humid temperatures for over a hour. There were 16 members of the KVFD who responded and mutual aid from the Warfield VFD with water. The Dunlow Fire and EMS transported the man to the Kermit bridge where the helicopter landed and he was airlifted out.
