WILLIAMSON – George Poole was recognized by the Williamson Fire Department at Thursday’s meeting of the Williamson City Council for his continued dedication and support to the fire department.
Joey Carey, Williamson Fire Chief, approached the council stating, “I want to recognize someone at this council meeting. I have asked a very distinguished business person here in town to come to the meeting so that I and my fellow firefighters can recognize him for his dedication to the fire department over the years. He has given us a lot of support. “
At that time, Carey asked Poole to come to the front. Carey presented Poole with a plaque for his continued support of the Fire Department.
George Poole over the years has gone out of his way to show his support for the fire department. Not long ago, we had a small little fire in his building and we were able to get on it quickly and mitigate any kind of emergency. Just after that, George comes by to the fire station with 30 steaks. It doesn’t matter where we at or what time of night it is; it seems like when everything calms down I see George standing there asking me if I need anything and telling us what a good job we have done. He goes and gets us coffee, and stuff to eat. He has always been that way. “
Carey recalled Poole being one of the first people he was introduced to on his first shift at the Williamson Fire Department. “While being introduced, I was told to not ever forget these people because they will never forget you. George was the first person he took me to. Tonight we want to give you this plaque to show our appreciation and thank you for your dedication to us,” Carey said in conclusion.
