WILLIAMSON – At the Williamson Utility Board meeting Thursday, Oct. 22, new board members Gaye Dotson and Larry Rosen were sworn in by the Williamson City Clerk, Larry Brown.
The new members replace Wallace Dempsey and Jerry Hurley.
Dempsey and Hurley submitted letters of resignation at the Williamson Utility Board meeting on Oct. 8.
Dotson and Rosen were appointed by Councilwoman Sherry Hairston-Brown and Councilman Matthew Newsom at the Oct. 8, Williamson City Council meeting. Both appointees received unanimous approval by council.
Mayor Robert Carlton made a comment concerning the appointment of the new members.
“We want to welcome our new members,” Carlton said.“We are excited to have them on board and we are glad they are willing to help us out,” Carlton continued.
When asked if any board members had any new business, member Larry Rosen commented that he would like to not receive remuneration (payment) from the City of Williamson.
“First, I want to thank the council and the board for allowing me to sit on the utility board. I understand that there is remuneration per meeting for members that sit here. I would like to waive that in my case,” Rosen said.
“I feel that I should sit on this board and not take any remuneration from the City,” Rosen continued.
Carlton responded saying, “The board will be glad to accept that voluntary refusal.”
