Elbert Lee “Eli” Young - age 71 of Rockhouse; Hatfield, KY passed away Sunday; December 9, 2012 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born December 2, 1941 at Varney, KY; he was the son of the late John and Fannie Slone Young.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers Junior and Ester Young; and 3 sisters Mary Maynard, Lillian Ray, and Eunice Burch.

He was a former coal miner and a member of the Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Roseline Heistand Young of Hatfield, KY; 3 sons Elbert Terry (Shirley) Young of Pikeville, KY, Thomas Lee (Jamie) Young of South Point, OH, and William (Kimberly) Young of Hatfield, KY; 1 daughter Deidre Young of Hatfield, KY; 8 granddaughters Jennifer Hamilton, Jessica Epling, Crystal Young, Kayla Slone, Katie Young, Amanda Young, Brooke Young, and Courtney Young; 3 great-granddaughters Zoey Hamilton, Emily Slone, and Peyton Epling; 3 step-grandchildren Brittany Johnson, Ashley Johnson, and Carissa Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday; December 11, 2012 at 12:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Pastor William Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with Chris Epling, Anthony Fraley, Justin Slone, Ricky West, Danny Hamilton, and Jonathan Hopkins serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 11:30 until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
