Vernia Combs Meade, 80, of Fort Gay, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 4, 2012.

Vernia was born January 12, 1932, at Isom, Ky., the daughter of the late Jerdon and Sarah Combs.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Walter Meade, who died in 2002; two sons, Lawrence and Daniel Meade.

Survivors include two daughters, Avenal Walker and husband Billy, and Elizabeth Hannah and husband Leslie; four sons, David and wife Cheryl, Joe and wife Pat, Andy and wife Rhonda, and Ishmel Meade; daughter-in-law, Heidi Meade; and sister, Juanita Johnson. She has 12 grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 8, at 1 p.m. at the Golden Springs Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Perry. Burial will follow in the Damron Cemetery at Stonecoal. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky.
