Glen Hargis, 81, formerly of Hatfield Bottom, Matewan, departed this life on Sunday, May 27, 2012, from the Rockcastle, Ky., Regional Hospital.

He was born May 26, 1931, in Nolan, to the late Thomas and Arlina Bagley Hargis.

In addition to his parents, Glen is preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Delphia Marie Estep Hargis; brothers Clyde Hargis of Wayne County, Arville Hargis of Baltimore, Md.; sisters Mamie Jane Laney of Kingsport, Tenn., Effie O’Brien of Florida and Nettie Vermillion of West Williamson.

He leaves to honor his loving memory and mourn his passing sons Glen Hargis Jr. and Timothy Hargis; stepson Eddie (Sue) Estep of Duncan Fork; stepdaughter Evelyn (George) Warren of Lenore; grandchildren Eddie Estep Jr., Chris Estep; Randy Nichols, Cindy Jo Estep Lovins; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Glen is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and loving family members. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Honoring services will be conducted Thursday, May 31, at 1 p.m. from the Chambers Funeral Services’ Chapel with the Rev. Ron Sanger officiating. Burial will follow at the Maynard Cemetery at North Matewan. The family will begin receiving friends on Wednesday, May 30, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc., of Matewan.
