A Williamson man is now in police custody after he allegedly played a dangerous game of 'Russian roulette' and then later escaped from the city police department.

Officers with the Williamson Police Department claim Mark Ray Marcum, 32, was at the residence of Amanda J. Davis during which time he brandished a handgun and held it to her head. He then supposedly spun the gun's bullet chamber and pulled the trigger two times. The event followed a long party that may have involved drugs and alcohol. It is believed Marcum became depressed over the fact his wife had recently left him.

Davis was able to get Marcum to let her go to the bathroom, where she called the police.

Upon entering the house, police officers forced Marcum to the floor where he was handcuffed and arrested.

While he was being processed, Marcum was released from his restraints to use the restroom. He was allowed to wait in the lobby of the police station unrestricted while he was being processed. Marcum, during that time, ran out of the police department and led officers on a foot chase across Logan Street and down an alleyway toward Dickinson Street.

The officers were able to overtake Marcum who physically resisted arrest at that time.

Marcum was arraigned before Magistrate Pam Newsome on charges of wanton endangerment, brandishing a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing an officer, fleeing an officer and battery on an officer.
