Bill Pruitt

Bill Pruitt, 45, of Phelps, Ky., passed away Thursday, June 29, 2010, at the Norton (Va.) Community Hospital.

He was born in Phelps, Oct. 30, 1964, a son of the late Hollie Pruitt and Della Rae Daugherty.

He is surivived by two children, Jacob (Amanada) Pruitt of Labelle, Fla., and Jimmy Pruitt of Grundy, Va.; two grandchildren, Elijah and Gavin Pruitt; his fiancée, Meranda Smith of Phelps; step-daughter, Cambria Smith of Phelps; brothers, Jonh Pruitt and Kennis “Dino” Pruitt, both of Phelps, Hollie Pruitt Jr. of Ocala, Fla.; sisters, Sandy Kalvaitis of Freemont, Mich., Annie Harmon of Scotch Plains, N.J.; Holly Sue Yancy of Ocala and Anita Pruitt of Florida.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home of Phelps.

Melda Ratliff

Melda Ratliff, 98, of Phelps, Ky., died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.

She was born at Coleman, Ky. (now Kimper) a daughter of the late Fred and Mary A. Coleman Ratliff.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, July 3, at the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Mavin Casey officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Phelps.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home of Phelps.

Oliene Webb

Oliene “Shag” Marcum Webb, 88, of Belpre, Ohio, died June 30, 2010 at the Marietta Rehab Center.

Born Feb. 13, 1922 at Beauty, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lucy (Marcum) Marcum.

She had worked for the Doe Miller & Sons packing tomatoes, and also had been employed in an ammunitions plant during the war. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and was an avid bowler over the last 50 years.

She was first and foremost a mother and grandmother, and family was everything to her, as were her dear friends. She blessed everyone who knew her, with her love and joy.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Sue Webb Farley (Charles “Bud”), and loving grandson, Clifford Luke MacAulay (Lisa), and great-grandsons, Keith and Kyle MacAulay-Emerick; grandson Mark Evan MacAulay (Jennifer) and great-grandsons, Marcus Evan, Shaun Isaac and Cameron Avery, and granddaughter, Layla Marie.

Also surviving are her sister, Vivian Tackett of Inez, Ky.; “sister” Etta Mae Marcum; brother-in-law, Carl Webb; sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Della Marcum; and very special nieces and nephews, and her loving and caring neighbors who helped take good care of her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Virgil, Earl, John and Tom; sisters, Ruth Kirk, Naomi Smith and Vertus Meadows; her loving son, Clifford R. “Bo” Webb, and her loving husband, Clifford “Kip” Webb.

Services will be held at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home at Warfield, Ky., at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010.

Friends may call at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, Ohio, on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home at Warfield on Sunday from 12 noon until the time of services. Burial will take place in the Marcum Cemetery at Beauty, Ky.
