JULIAN, W.Va. (AP) — Two mountaintop removal mining activists charged with blocking a road to a Massey Energy office are being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on $100,000 bail.

Climate Ground Zero says it’s consulting lawyers and may challenge the amounts set Monday by Boone County Magistrate Porter Snodgrass.

Snodgrass did not immediately return a phone message.

Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Barker says 18-year-old EmmaKate Martin of Lancaster, Pa., and 23-year-old Ben Bryant of Lebanon, Pa., were charged with trespassing, conspiracy, obstruction and littering.

He says they left garbage near their protest site in Julian.

Thousands are expected to protest Massey’s safety and corporate responsibility records Tuesday at the annual shareholders meeting in Richmond, Va
