Two men charged with first degree murder were among the 27 persons arraigned on April Grand Jury indictments in Mingo County Circuit Court Thursday.
Sixteen persons remain to be arraigned on charges contained in indictments Tuesday.
Chief Judge Michael Thornsbury declined bond for Roger David Stroud of Kermit, who is charged with murdering his estranged wife, Vadie Michelle Stroud, 29, of Kermit, Sept. 21, 2009 in the Kermit area. He also is charged with concealing her deceased human body at a remote mining site.
Strouds trial is set for Aug. 24, 2010. His attorney is Ronald J. Rumora.
Tommy Blaine Vances trial is scheduled for Aug. 10, 2010 and he posted $600,000 with conditions. He was represented by Attorney Brian Abraham at yesterdays arraignment.
Vance is accused of wanton endangerment when he feloniously performed an act with a firearm, creating a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury to Jason Andrew Lee and Raymond Hammonds on Nov. 14, 2009.
#Jason Andrew Lee died and Vance is charged with first degree murder in connection with his death.
The 24 other arraignments Thursday were on drug-related charges. These indictments were unsealed as the defendants were arraigned. All of the defendants entered pleas of not guilty.
Mingo County Prosecuting Attorney C. Michael Sparks represented the state of West Virginia in all of the proceedings. Thornsbury set bonds ranging from $30,000 to $600,000. Eight defendants posted bonds.
Those additionally arraigned, their charges, bonds, trial dates and attorneys were as follows:
Noah Keith Bevins, 29, Williamson; one count of delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana) and one count conspiracy to deliver marijuana; bond posted in the amount of $70,000 with conditions (personal recognition); trial date June 8; attorney W. Thomas Ward.
Bridgett Mae Blankenship, age and address not available; one count of delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone); one count delivery of a Schedule IV controlled substance (Alprazolam), and one count of conspiracy to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone) and a Schedule IV controlled substance (Alprazolam). No attorney yet; bond $60,000; trial date June 8.

Billy Lee Evans, 30, Williamson; two counts of delivering a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana); trial date, June 1; bond, $50,000 with conditions; Attorney Jerry Lyall.
Pamela Evans of Kermit; one count of distributing a Schedule III controlled substance (Hydrocodone) within 1,000 feet of a school by a person 18 years of age or older; trial June 8; bond $150,000 ($10,000 in full cash required), with conditions; Attorney, Steven Knopp.
