Born April 30, 1925 in Lovely, Ky., she was the daughter of the alte Carl and Pearl Kirk Preece.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Freelin Maynard, who passed away in 1987; a brother, Carl Preece, Jr.; and a sister, Lucy Swain.
Mrs. Maynard was a homemaker and lifelong member of the Delbarton Church of God where she was a member of the Ladies Willing Workers. She enjoyed flowers and loved springtime.

(Vernaye) Maynard, Larry Maynard and Les Maynard, all of Delbarton, Lynette (Edgar “Junior”) Hicks of Delbarton, Carole (Clifford) Marenko and Anita and the late Robert Witten, both of Williamson, Pamela (Paul) Layne of Chattaroy and Violet “Tiny” Mayhon of Delbarton; a son-in-aw, Charles “Fats” Mahon of Delbarton; brothers Homer Preece of Mason, Les Preece of Raleigh, N.C., and John W. Preece of Delbarton; a sister, Ada Mae Farley of Arlington, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Delbarton Church of God with the Revs. Mitchell Bias and Mike Varju and Bro. Albert Totten officiating. Burial will follow at the White Cemetery in Elk Creek.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton.
