Erma Jean Bowling of Phelps, Ky., passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky.

Erma was born Nov. 25, 1951 at Pike County, Kentucky to the late Merda and Bessie Griffith Layne.

She is preceded in death by one son, Michell Bowling; and sister Brenda Hawkins.

Erma was a homemaker, and a member of The Lord’s House Independent Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include Erma’s husband Rev. Ronnie Lee Bowling; a son, George Lee (Johnette) Bowling of Sophia, N.C.; two daughters, Melissa Ann Wolford (Larry), of Phelps KY., Rebekah Lee Willis (Andrew) of Lexington, Ky.; brother Jimmy Mounts of Vulcan, W.Va.; sisters Magdalene Eldridge of Freeburn, Ky., Jenny Lipscomb of Cleveland, Ohio, and Christine Reynolds of Mt. Sterling, Ky., and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at The Lord’s House at Phelps, Ky., with reverends Mitchell Bowling and William Conn officiating. Interment will occur at Bowling Family Cemetery at Phelps, Ky., with family and friends acting as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday at The Lord’s House at Phelps, Ky., with special services at 7 p.m.
