The Mingo County Sheriffs Department arrested three from Varney on Tuesday for child neglect.

Billy Blankenship and Ezra Blankenship of Varney were arrested on charges of child neglect.

According to the criminal complaint, deputies responded after 911 dispatched them to the scene at Chambers Curve apartments involving several individuals. Upon arrival they observed in plain view the apartment door of Ezra who was sitting on the couch with open beer containers on a table within reach of the defendants’ 15-month-old daughter. Billy, Ezra’s brother, was also in the apartment at the time of the incident.

The officers then conducted a standardized field sobriety test, which both Billy and Ezra Blankenship failed.

Tammy Blankenship was arrested in connection with the case for obstructing an officer, after officers told her several times to stay inside her apartment. She was arrested on obstructing charges.

All three were arraigned by Chief Magistrate Eugene Crum, Billy and Ezra both received bonds of $10,000.

They were transported to Southwestern Regional Jail, while Tammy was released on a personal recognizance bond, but was arrested again later that night for obstructing an officer and assault.

Officers were once again called to Chambers Curve Apartments for a disturbance. Tammy allegedly threw rocks at Margaret Rose, another tenet at the complex. She also allegedly told officers that she would be arrested on felony charges if Rose left her apartment again. Tammy went before Magistrate Pam Newsom for the second charges, receiving a bond of $3,000.

All three remain in Southwestern Regional Jail as of press-time.
