SOUTH WILLIAM-SON, Ky. — A local motel was robbed at knifepoint very early this morning, according to police reports.

A statement from Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, Ky., said the night clerk called 911 at approximately 2:30 a.m. advising the Super 8 Motel on U.S. 119 just outside Williamson, W.Va., had been the target of a robbery.

She said a white man about 6-foot tall came in the motel brandishing a knife and demanded money. He was dressed in a gray hoody sweatshirt, green army jacket and blue bandana.

KSP Trooper Hoyt Smith responded to the call within four minutes and attempted the locate the suspect who left in an unknown direction.

He was assisted by Trooper Chris Phillips.

The case is still under investigation by the KSP.
