The nearly $270,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will allow the northern panhandle school to review a host of environmental problems in the communities of Mud River, Prenter, Cabin Creek, Ansted, Logan and Varney.
According to the EPA, Wheeling Jesuit will use the grant to study a variety of environmental issues ranging from mining and coal slurry to water and waste management.
This is the second time the school has received an EPA grant to study health issues in the communities.
