William Edward "Ed" Ray, 60, of Turkey Creek, Ky. passed away Wednes-day afternoon, June 10, 2009 in the Emergency Room at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Ed was born March 13, 1949 in Pike County, Ky., the son of the late Ferrell and Francis Scalf Ray. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ferrell Ray Jr.

He was a retired coal miner from Big Bottom Coal Co. and a member of the UMW A - Job Corp. He was also a member of the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Lockard Ray of Turkey Creek; daughter, Susan (Jeff) Norman of Paintsville, Ky.; sons, Chris (Carrie) Ray of Winston Salem, NC and Jason Ray of Turkey Creek, Ky., four sisters, Wanda Hunt of Hardy, Ky., Linda Thacker of Belfry, Ky., Doris Ray of Tennessee and Paula Cook of Sharondale, Ky.; four brothers, Clifford (Gail) Ray of South Williamson, Ky., Johnny (Fran) Ray of Narrows Branch, Ky., Paul Ray of Rockhouse, Ky. and Thomas (Kay) Ray of Turkey Creek, Ky.; six grandchildren, Brett Norman, Dylan Norman and Zacbery Norman all of Paintsville, Ky., Mason Ray, Harper Ray and Bella Ray all of Winston Salem, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Reed-Lockard Cemetery, Turkey CreeK Ky. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church with special services both nights at 7 p.m.

Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.

R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky. is in charge of arrangements.
