CHARLESTON (AP) — More southern West Virginia counties are eligible for federal assistance from recent flooding.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency said Wednesday that individual assistance has been approved for residents in McDowell and Raleigh counties. In addition, government agencies and nonprofit organizations in McDowell, Mercer and Raleigh counties that had to perform emergency work or repair disaster-damaged facilities can apply for public assistance.

Mingo and Wyoming counties already have received federal disaster declarations, making residents and businesses eligible for various federal assistance.
