Tan Marcum, 80 of Stone, Ky. passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at his residence.
He was born February 9, 1929 at Whitepost, Ky. the son of the late Ran and Betty Howell Marcum. He was also preceded in death by sister, Dixie Marcum and brothers, Gabe, Freelin, Homer, Harvey, Harlan, Laddie, Granville and Buddy Marcum.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA and of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Vary Mar-cum of Stone, Ky., four sons, Randall Marcum of Williamson, WV., Gary Thomas Marcum of New Port Beach, Va., Tanuel Marcum of LaVergne, Tn. and Michael Alan Marcum of Murfreesboro, Tn., five daughters, Della Jean Mar-cum of Prestonsburg, Ky., Carlene Sartin of Peebles, Ohio, Charlene Keen of Inez, Ky., Darlene Coleman of Belfry, Ky. and Clara Ann Church of Huddy, Ky., one brother, Ransom Mar-cum of Hatfield, Ky. and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Belfry Freewill Baptist Church with Buddy Kendrick, Freddie Runyon and Freddie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcum Cemetery, Hat-field, Ky. Visitation will be held after 6 PM on Thursday and Friday at the Church with special services both nights at 7 PM.
