Coalfield Community Action Partnership (CCAP) is working with the USDA to sponsor a Summer Food Service program for Mingo County children.

Karen Brown, Director of Children’s Programs at CCAP, said the program is free to all children 18 years and under.

The program will begin Monday, June 24, and run through August 2 at Burch Middle, Dingess Elementary, Gilbert Elementary, Kermit K-8, Matewan Elementary, Riverside Elementary Schools.

Breakfast is served from 10 until 10:30, lunch is from 1 until 1:30, Monday through Friday. Meals must be eaten on-site.

Brown said if a group involved in a camp or activity nearby one of the locations want to bring those children to eat, they are asked to call ahead.
