Thelma Francis Coleman, age 82, of Thacker, WV, a precious and God fearing lady departed this earthly world and her loving family and friends to be received by a heavenly host awaiting her on the other side on June 3, 2013.


She was born March 11, 1931 to the late Dixie and Strother Francis in Freeburn, KY. She was the great granddaughter and descendant of the late Walt Hatfield, a brother to Devil Ance Hatfield.


In addition to her parents Thelma is preceded in death by her late beloved husband Charles Everett Coleman; sisters Ann Lotti and Mary Ingersoll; and brother Glen Francis.


Thelma was a native of Pike County, upon marrying her late husband Charles, they moved to Thacker, WV where they established their home and raised their children, becoming a pillar of the community. As her continued years turned from wife to mother to grandmother to great grandmother and to great great grandmother and as her children grew; their friends and the neighborhood playmates ended up around the “Old Family Table”. She never grumbled nor did she complain but “just sat another plate”.


She was a faithful member of the Old Path Bible Church but more so a faithful member of God’s heavenly church.


She leaves to honor her loving memory and mourn her passing son Charles (Pauline) Coleman Jr. of Harriman, TN; daughters Gloria Coleman (Harold) Cox of Lynn, WV; Lora Coleman (Bob) Kilgore of Pikeville, KY; Elizabeth Coleman (Toby) Miller of Freeburn, KY; Melissa Wolford (Tim) Miller of Thacker, WV; brother Harold (Doris) of Phelps, KY; sisters Betty (Ernie) Moore of Riverdale, GA; sister in law Debbie Coleman Francis and special sister in law Eunice Coleman of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren Virginia Cox; Charlene Wolford; Harold Cox Jr. Charles Cox; Bethann Kilgore McCown; Matthew Kilgore; Dawn Coleman; Charles Coleman III; Thelma Grefalda; Wendy Mullins; and Gary Wolford; 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; and a host of family, nieces, nephews and friends.


Honoring services will be conducted Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Chambers Funeral Services Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Bob. Kilgore officiating; Bros. Danny Hylton Larry Eldrige; and Mike Carver of Gate City, VA will be ministering. Special singing by Bros. Bud Crum, Eddie Street; Bro. and Sis Dewey Ratliff and Louise May.


Burial will follow in the Varney Cemetery at Lynn, WV


Grandsons Charles Coleman III; Harold Cox Jr. Charles Cox; Matthew Kilgore; Gary Wolford; Daniel Hatfield; Austin Wolford; Joshua Bandy; and Charlie Kilgore will serve as pallbearers.


Sons in law Harold Cox Sr.; Bob Kilgore; Toby Miller; Tim Johnson; and son Charles Coleman Jr. will serve as Honorary pallbearers.


The family will begin receiving friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Funeral Home Chapel and on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m.


*As per the request of Thelma, expressions of sympathy be made through cards, please no flowers.


Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc of Matewan, WV
