BIG CREEK, Ky. – An accident on Ky. State Rt. 468 that occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday has claimed the life of a Sidney, Ky. resident and sent two others to a local hospital.
According to information released by Pikeville Post 9 of the Kentucky State Police (KSP), they received a call of a single vehicle accident on Big Creek Road (Rt. 468) at 11:54 p.m. KSP Trooper Michael Hindman, Trooper Jason McClellan and Appalachian First Response Ambulance Service responded to the scene, along with volunteers from the Big Creek Fire Department.
Information obtained from the troopers indicates that Henry May, 44 years old of Sidney, was traveling South on Big Creek Road when his vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway and overturned. May was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts. Two passengers in the vehicle were transported to the Pikeville Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Hindman.
