George Marcum, Jr., 67, of Dan’s Branch Road, Borderland, formerly of Homewood, Illinois, died at his residence on Thursday, April 2, 2009, with his mother, Katie, at his bedside.
Born November 5, 1941, at Big Creek, Ky., he was the son of the Katie Crum Marcum Elkins of Borderland and the late George Marcum, Sr.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velma Marcum; one brother, Wallace Marcum, and a sister, Becky Zirk.
George was retired from his career in construction and he was a member of the Nolan Freewill Baptist Church.
George is survived by two sons, Terry Marcum, of Hendersonville, TN, and Todd (Corina) Marcum, of Chicago Heights, IL; one daughter, Tammy (Hector) Martinez, of Dyer, IN; three sisters, Dorothy (William) Marcum, of Naugatuck, Edith (Don) Poliquin, of Carpentersville, IL, and Shelby (Richard) Vinson, of Ingleside, IL. George is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, April 4, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Weaver Mortuary in West William-son. There will be a special service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Nolan Freewill Baptist Church, at Nolan, WV. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the
service. The Rev. Ray Taylor and the Rev. Earl White will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV. Family members
and friends will serve as pallbearers.
