Mitchell Bias, Pastor of the Delbarton Regional Church of God, invites the public to join together for prayer in the courtroom of the Mingo County Court House on the national Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 2, 2013 beginning at noon.

The National Day of Prayer is a day that transcends differences, bringing together people from all backgrounds, political parties, churches, and denominations.

In 1775, the first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer. In 1952, President Truman signed into law a National Day of Prayer. It has, since that time, been observed on the first Thursday in May of each year.

The Mingo County prayer event lasts from 12 to 12:30 p.m., led by various area pastors and leaders, corporately praying for the following topics: our national, state, county and municipalities’ government, military, churches, families, education, business, and media.

“We are in a trying season here. I can’t think of a time when Mingo County, and America, for that matter, has been in greater need of someone who will stand in the gap and pray,” Rev. Bias, coordinator for the event, said. “Now more than ever, we need the intervention of God in our midst, to bring change, salvation for the lost, restoration of peace and safety, and healing to those broken by tragedy. We appeal to all believers to join us in this year’s event as we also pray over the coal industry, the plague of drug abuse, and the need for a safety hedge around our leaders and those who serve and protect.”
