PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Mingo Central tennis teams played a tri-match on Saturday against Pikeville High and Pike Central.

The boys split six matches with Pikeville to play for a draw and beat Pike Central 6 and 0. While the ladies lost 6 and 0 to Pikeville and beat Pike Central 5 and 1.

Upcoming matches are with Sherman, Logan, and Riverview.

The MCHS Miners tennis squad plays at Logan on Tuesday. Coach Julius “Boo” Hatcher encourages fans to come out to watch the matches.

In recent tennis matches Mingo Central both the boys and girls both went 1 and 2. The boy’s team lost 7 and 0 to Scott, beat Sissonville 6 and 1, and lost to Chapmanville 5 and 2. The MCHS girls beat Scott 4 and 3 and had losses to Sissonville, 4 and 3, and Chapmanville 7 and 0.

“We are playing some really good teams that are seasoned,” said Hatcher. “We are now starting to play a lot of tennis that will help us when tourney time comes around. I am proud of what I see out on the court.”
