SHELBY VALLEY, Ky. – The Wildcats got the best of the Panthers in baseball action Wednesday night at Shelby Valley, Ky.


SVHS beat Tug Valley 9-4 in seven innings.


Shelby Valley took a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning and scored two more runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 6-1 lead. The Panthers scored one run each in the 4th, 6th and 7th innings. The Wildcats added a couple of insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th frame.


Trevin Horn and Jordon Mounts led Tug Valley with two hits each, while Tyler Lucas and Tyler Estepp each had a single. Mounts had the only extra base hit for TVHS with a double.


Phillip Lucas took the loss on the mound for the Panthers. Mikey Newsome also saw action in relief for coach Jeff Varney’s club.


Jacob Beverly got the win for Shelby Valley. Jordan Belcher let the hit parade for the Cats with three base hits, while Austin Elswick had two hits. Several other players had one hit for the home team. SVHS banged out 10 hits in the game.


Tug Valley is scheduled to host Mingo Central today (Friday), weather permitting.
