Skyhawks soar past Miners

MADISON – The Mingo Central Miners lost to the Scott Skyhawks 13-3 in baseball action this past Saturday at Madison.
Scott banged out 11 hits in the victory.
C. Brown got the win on the mound for Scott, while Joe May took the loss for the Miners. Todd Slone came into the game in relief for Mingo Central.
Brown went four innings striking out seven and did not give up any walks.
Phillips went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Skyhawks including a 2-run homer, while Spurlock had a pair of hits including a double. Castle had one hit and three RBIs.
Scott led 5-0 going into the 3rd inning and Mingo Central scored three runs to cut the lead. However, the Skyhawks scored a pair in the bottom of the 4th and broke the game open with six more runs in the bottom of the 5th to win by the 10-run mercy rule.
Mingo Central had five hits in the game. May had two hits to help his own cause, while Mason Conley, Matt Lester and Caleb Spencer each had a base hit.
