Wendell Ray Simpson, 69, went home to be with his heavenly Father on March 3, 2013 from his home in Niota, Tenn., surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Gilbert and a long time resident of Niota.
He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1967.
He was a long time truck driver and last employed by Purdy Brothers Trucking Company of Loudon, Tenn.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Collie and Ellen Smith Simpson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Agnes Goff Simpson, a daughter, Jennifer Hoad of Miota, sons Shawn (Lori Goff) Simpson and Jeff (Christine) Simpson, both of Niota, grandchildren Desirae and Shawn Goff, Wesly, Wyatt and Savannah Head, Arabella, Abagail and Arreonna Simpson, a great-grandchild, Larrajae Goff, brothers Randle (Penny) Simpson of Gallipolis, Ohio and Kendal (Waletta) Simpson of Gilbert, aunts Lenay May, Pearl Vincent and Martha Smith and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and many other friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., March 7, 2013, at Hanover Missionary Baptist Church in Hanover with Pastor Jackie Lester officiating. Burial will follow at East Kermit Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gene James, Cole Simpson, Chase Simpson, John Goff, Larry Goff, Rodney Goff, David Hall and Anthony Fields.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the church.
