Veterans are being encouraged to attend a free Health and Enrollment Fair at the Lenore VA Clinic on Friday, March 8, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fair will offer health screenings, such as blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and Veterans will have an opportunity to enroll for health care services at the Lenore VA Clinic.
The Lenore VA Outreach Clinic is open four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m,. to 4:30 p.m.
Services that are provided at the clinic include the usual outpatient visits as well as health maintenance services, such as flu shots and lab work. Leisha Roberts said the clinic has resources to treat mental health issues, diabetes and weight loss problems, and plans are in place to include other medical specialties in the future.
Another feature of the new clinic is Telehealth, a internet based system that will allow patients to interact face-to-face with specialists in the Huntington VA Hospital.
The new clinic also provides internet access to enable veterans to access their medical records online through My HealtheVet, a web-based personal health records.
Veterans will need to bring their military discharge papers (DD214). Veterans will also be able to sign up for VA’s online portal, MyHealtheVet, which will allow them to get prescription refills online, schedule appointments and have access to their medical records.
Veterans who have questions about eligibility and enrollment may contact the enrollment office at the Huntington VA Medical Center at 304-429-6741, ext. 3459, 2490 or 2496, or toll free 800-824-8277. Veterans may contact the Lenore VA Clinic directly at 304-475-3000.
