Ruth Irene Slushnick Peterson Six, 88, of Bluefield, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 15, 1925, in Ward, the daughter of the late Frank Slushnick and Nellie McCalloff Slushnick Oliver.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Six of Williamson; by her first husband, John Peterson of Erie, Pa.; and by her brother, John Slushnick of Pigeon Creek.
Survivors include her three daughters, Katheryn Peterson (Charles) Galloway of Augusta, Ga., Dorothy (Mark T. Webb) Peterson of Bluefield, and Mary Alice Peterson of Williamson; five grandchildren, Zachary Joseph Salvato of New York, N.Y., Tonya Suzanne (Todd) Adkins of Charlotte, N.C., Tracie Nicole Powell of Charleston, Staci Webb Sizemore of Lexington, Ky., and Jeffrey Mark (Heather) Webb of Bristol, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Ethan Tyler Powell, Joshua Neil Thomas Sizemore, Jacob Paul Sizemore, Brooklynn Elyse Webb, and Garrett Chayse Webb.
Visitation will be held at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson on Monday, February 25, 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. for family, and friends will be received from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. A eulogy will be presented by Elliott E. (Spike) Maynard, followed by a Rosary Service provided by members of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A funeral mass, officiated by Father Paul Wharton, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26. Pallbearers include Mark T. Webb, Jeffrey Mark Webb, Zachary Joseph Salvato, Joshua Neil Thomas Sizemore, Ethan Tyler Powell, Michael Todd Adkins, and Donald Hedrick. Honorary pallbearers include Jacob Paul Sizemore, Charles Galloway, and Elliott E. (Spike) Maynard.
