Lillie Vinson Nunn went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the age of 93 from Rockledge, Fla.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Justine and Frank Huff of Melbourne, Fla.; her son, William S. Nunn and his wife, Martha, of Gastonia, N.C.; and her 96-year-old sister, Mary Smith, of Charleston. She will forever be in the hearts of her 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Lillie, born February 14, 1919, at Lenore was preceded in death by her late parents, William S. and Elizabeth (Betty) Dempsey Vinson; husband of 45 years, Shirley Nunn, who she married June 24, 1939, in Belfry, Ky.; her daughter, Ernestine Munsey; a grandson, Jeff Huff; and 15 of her siblings: John Henry (Mae), Trinnie (Stewart) Davis, Doug (Dora), Leck (Edna), Zan (Alice), Tom (Becky), Freelin, Sarah Ann (Wilburn) Hall, Baby Boy, Mona (Johnny) Seagraves, Freeland (Betty), Willia (Mose) York, Myrtle (Tom) Devitt, William, Jr. (Margaret), and George (Marie). (Can’t you just hear the roar of that heavenly reunion celebration? Joy unending!)

Lillie served as a LPN at Charlestown Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years but started caring for the ill at age 13. She also served as a midwife for many years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Ranson. She also was involved at the Seaside Chapel at Patrick Air Force Base in Satellite Beach, Fla. She remained active in sharing God’s love with all she came into contact with at her home at Palm Cottages of Rockledge, where she lived for the last six years. She was dearly loved and will be missed by residents, staff, her many family and friends both in Florida and West Virginia.

Services will be held on Sunday, January 27, at South Patrick Chapel at 2 p.m. Services will also be held in West Virginia at First Baptist Church of Ranson on Thursday, January 31, at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Kearneyville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, Melbourne, Fla.
