PIKEVILLE, Ky. —A Pikeville man was arrested and charged with murder on Wednesday.

Richard C. Ratliff, 49, of Harold’s Branch, Pikeville, was arrested on a sealed indictment obtained by Detective Bruce Collins in connection to the shooting death of Ricky Coleman.

Coleman was found dead in his home on Oct. 7, with several gunshot wounds.

Ratliff was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. Other charges stem from the shooting of a second victim, Lacy Smith, who was also shot during the attack at Coleman’s residence.

There has been no word on a motive behind the shootings.

Ratliff is currently lodged within the Pike County Detention Center.
