MATEWAN - The Burch Middle School Basketball teams opened county play with a pair of victories Monday night at Matewan.
The Lady Bulldogs earned a 29-13 victory over the Lady Tigers. Burch was led in scoring by Caitlyn Curry and Shylah Goff, who each scored eight to pace the Lady Dogs. Bobbi Varney added 5 points and 7 steals.
Matewan was led in scoring by Danyale Perkins and Taylor Horton who each netted 4 points.
In boys action, the Bulldogs won 42-15.
Burch was paced by Joe Hunt with 9 points. Keebo Cunningham added 8 points, 4 assists and 4 steals.
Matewan was led in scoring by Tyler Adkins who scored 7 for the Tigers.
Burch will play host to Kermit Monday, while Matewan will travel to Williamson. The girls games will start at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game.
