James “Pee Wee” Layne, 88 of Huddy, Ky., went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at his home.
He was born May 3, 1924, in Williamson, the son of the late Dave and Peggy Mounts Layne.
He was also preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. He was a retired carman for N & S Railroad, a member of the First Baptist Church of Belfry for 60 years and a veteran of the U. S. Navy in World War II.
He is survived by his wife; Virginia Grubb Layne; two sons, David (Lea) Layne of Bellevue, Ohio and Paul (Karen) Layne of Rogersville, Tenn.; two daughters, Linda (Terry) Carter of Valdosta, Ga., and Liz (David) Burgett of Turkey Creek, Ky.; one brother, Mont Layne of South Bend, Ind.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his pet dog, Max; and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday December 2, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Norman and Brother Mark Helton officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, with grandsons and family serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be his sunday school class. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home.
