Man crashes into school bus, killing 1

BREEDEN - The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department said drugs and alcohol are believed to have been a factor is a fatal crash at Breeden.

MCSD Chief Field Deputy James Smith said Lewis Perry, of Breeden, crossed the centerline and crashed into a Mingo County school bus head on. No students were on the bus at the time of the accident.

The bus was driven by Ron Joplin of Williamson. Joplin was uninjured in the accident.

Perry had a passenger in his vehicle, Randolph Marcum, also of Breeden, who was killed in the crash.

Police said alcohol containers and pill bottles were found in the car at the scene of the accident. They expect to file charges in connection with the crash.

MCSD Deputies M. Mounts and E. Williams are investigating.
