Martin County home for global company
INEZ, Ky. – Kentucky Governor and other top-ranking officials visited the county seat of Martin County last Friday, welcoming a new global company to the area.
The David Brown Company hails from London, England, where they are manufacturers of gear products. They made a decision to target the coal mining industry and have chosen Martin County as their Appalachian base, which means job opportunities for several local residents.
“This is a great day for Martin County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky,” said the governor. “We’ve been working on this project for almost two years and it’s finally a reality.
“The David Brown Company from England is an international player,” said Beshaear. “They’re a global leader in the gear solution business and to have them locate their American business right here in Martin County is truly a cop for us.
“It will put us on the map.”
The company manufacturers gear products for industries that include mining, and company executives said that Martin County is perfect for them to be, since there are more than 400 mine sites located within a 100 mile radius.
“Our key purpose for choosing Martin County to be close to our customer base”, said David Brown CEO John Paterson. “We have already hired eight people and hope to triple that number in the near future.”
Local officials say that this is a huge announcement for the area, and County Judge Executive Kelly Callaham stated that anytime you have a global company locating a business in your area, it’s a good day.
“This is just another important step we’re taking to get Kentuckians back to work,” said the governor. “We say welcome – welcome to Martin County!”
