DELBARTON – It will be No. 1 versus No. 2 for the Mingo County middle school football championship next Thursday, October 25, at Buck Harless Stadium on the campus of Mingo Central High School.

Burch defeated Lenore 30-0 Tuesday night at Phil Sizemore Stadium in Delbarton in the semi-finals, while Gilbert defeated Matewan.

Chaz Farley and Chris Lester had touchdowns for Burch, according to coach Joey Evans.

“Our team defense was the star of the game,” Evans said.

Meanwhile, Gilbert rolled past Matewan 54-12 to advance to the title game. No scoring details of the game were available.

Gilbert defeated Burch in the first game of the regular season back in September. Burch is now 6-2 on the season. Gilbert is undefeated at 8-0.
