Helen Francis Stacy, 92, of Belfry, Ky., went to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 14, 2012.
She passed away at the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital due to a battle with pneumonia and congestive heart failure.
She was the daughter of the late John Edwards and Gertrude Minnie Presley. She was born in Farmville, Va. on September 27, 1920.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Nicholas Stacy; son, Jimmie C. Stacy; and three brothers, James, Walter and Robert Edwards.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Belfry United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Annette Kirk of Hardy, Ky. and Patty Sullivan of Eastlake, Ohio; sister, Annie Ophelia Varney of Kingsport, Tenn.; daughters-in-law, Peggy Simpkins of Belfry, Ky. with whom she made her home and Dixie Stacy of Harlan, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Marcia Lincoln of Canada, Ky., Melissa Whetstone of Jefferson City, Tenn., Dwayne Stacy of Tampa, Fla., Wanda Mayberry of Hardy, Ky., Chris Kirk of Georgetown, Ky., Carol Stepp of Brushy, Ky., Linda Thompson of Turkey Creek, Ky. and Debbie Brew of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio; 16 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Geoff Tackett officiating with the Choir from the Belfry United Methodist Church singing. Burial will follow at the Stacy Family Cemetery, Hardy, Ky. with Dwayne Stacy, Casey Whetstone, William Lincoln, Chris Kirk, Chris Kirk Jr., Daniel Hinkle, David Stepp, Ryan Brown, Kermit “Moose” Ratliff and Garp Browning serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with special services at 7 p.m. with Donnie Williamson officiating and the Choir of the Toler Freewill Baptist Church.
