DELBARTON - On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the Mingo County Extended Learning Center at Delbarton will host an open house that staff members are hopeful will be well attended by the public.

According to Marcella Cooper, spokesperson for the center, the event is scheduled to take place between 6 and 8 p.m., and will feature the theme of “Staying Alive.” In keeping with the theme, a variety of free services will be offered to all who attend including blood pressure screenings, blood sugar testing, and basic hearing and vision exams.

Informational booths concerning Breast Cancer Awareness will be set up during the event, and Red Ribbon/Drug Abuse Awareness “Stop Coalition” will also be there, providing pamphlets and brochures about the serious problem of drug abuse that is gripping our entire nation.

Healthy snacks and drinks will be provided and a variety of games promoting physical activity is planned for the children who attend. Students and teachers at the center will be offering a free service for adults who require assistance in creating or updating a resume. Simply bring your information with you to the event and a student from the Adult Medical Office Program will be happy to assist you with your needs.
